David Lund – “I enjoyed my stay at the Raise Cottage Bunkhouse. It is a really comfortable and warm place with everything you need. The owner Philip and his son Mark are friendly and welcoming. There’s a lovely hot clean shower which is great after a day in the hills and for an extra seven pounds fifty, we had a delicious home cooked dinner in the evening. The breakfast was real good too, with a proper coffee. I would highly recommend staying there.”

Katharine -“I liked the way I was made to feel so welcome when I arrived at the hostel, and that everything was done to make my stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. I really appreciated being able to hire a clean towel, having porridge for breakfast, having toiletries to use in the showers, and being able to make up a flask of tea. It was extremely good value for money and I am looking forward to making a return visit.” (9.6/10)

Specially if you want to trek the Helvellyn range, The host Phillip and Mark really go out of the way to make you comfortable. The food was amazing and plenty. Phillip is a excellent chef :) . Thanks for the amazing chicken gravy and pasta and mushroom gravy the next day. The hall + kitchen + fireplace on ground place is an amazing warm place to socialize and just spend time. Phillip has lot of information on the local treks and area so make best use of it. I had a nice time doing the trek route he suggested.” (9.2/10)
